Position Overview

This position will be responsible for formulation and mixing rubber materials for the company. This person will lead the rubber production process as well as formulating new materials.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation and efficiency in rubber processing operations in a manufacturing facility.
  • Lead improvement of rubber formulations, troubleshoot manufacturing issues and optimize processes for quality and efficiency.
  • Investigate new materials or additives that may improve current business efficiency and secure additional opportunities.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to ensure strong operations and continuous improvement throughout the process.
  • Provide leadership in the training and educating of plant personnel in the rubber making process.
  • Use root cause analysis to solve systemic quality and process issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and maintain a quality assurance guide to ensure consistent product quality to meet company and customer specifications.
  • Work with Process Engineers to give input in chemical specifications related to new products, including material specifications, product performance specifications, tooling, and process requirements to determine manufacturing costs and needs.
  • Lead efforts to insure quality in the mixing and extruding process.
  • Support the team in identifying, qualifying, and sourcing alternative materials to meet product and company goals and targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3+ year(s) in chemical engineering environment
  • Experience with a variety of rubber polymers a plus
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement and problem solving
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or other total quality initiatives
  • Strong attention to detail, advanced planning, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and improve chemical processes in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and push several projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with Microsoft Office products
  • Proven use of collaborative, fact-based, team-oriented problem-solving approach
  • Proven planning and plan execution abilities
